Halfway There!

Well, I guess I'll go ahead and post my progress :)

I started out at 195 and I'm now 178

17 lbs. in about 3 weeks (I kind of cheated the first week!)
I'm super proud of myself and hope I can keep it off.

I eat 6 small meals a day.
5 are more like snacks than meals.
I have one meal at night. It consists of 7 oz of a lean protein and a large veggie.

For example, tonight I had a grilled chicken breast, 2 cups of lettuce, diced cucumbers, diced avacado, diced tomatoes, and a few tablespoons of fat free dressing. I couldn't even finish it I was so full. I can really tell my stomach has shrunk.

I stick to chicken, fish, or egg whites for my protein at night. Never beef.
I don't do any sweets, no chips, no carbs... but I do have a few diet sodas :)
Oh, and I drink half my body weight in ounces. So I'm drinking about 90 oz of water a day!

Here's a picture of me this summer.

This was taken Friday night.

I can tell a difference. Can you? I feel like I've lost a lot of it in my stomach. My shorts that I wore all summer can barley stay on and I have to wear my belt super tight! But, I'm not buying new clothes until this contest is over :)

Okay... so I've posted, now it's your turn!

Half-Way Progress!

I've been a little discouraged lately.
I feel like I've been working out like crazy but I don't know if I've really been losing weight.
When I weighed myself this morning, I had lost 5 lbs!
I'm pretty excited! It's nice when you start to see some progress.
It helps you keep going when you are tempted to give in ;)

Please post your progress so that we can see what our competition is!!!!!!!!!

Half-way there!

We've reached our half-way point!
I hope all of you are still in it to win it!
But we need to see how the competition is doing.
So I want everyone to publish a post telling us what their status is.
Weight lost, inches, whatever.
That way, if there is someone doing better than you, you'll know to kick it up a notch! :)
Also, those of you who were wanting to donate prizes and hold contests, feel free to do so any time.
Now that we are a month in, we need all the motivation we can get!
Thanks ladies!!!!!!!!!!!

This week...

I did it!
I did not eat chips, I only had 2 treats the whole week and I drank 64 oz of water each day.
But I need to keep this healthy eating thing up.
So these are my goals this week and I'm gonna keep the same rules as last week.
Eat 5 servings of fruits or veggies each day
Limit 2 treats again this week
and only 3 pieces of toast with peach jam for the whole week
(we canned some peach jam a few nights ago and it is super good.  I could eat it on toast all day! But that's a lot of carbs and sugar, so I need a limit!)

Crack down!

So I've been doing tons of working out, but my eating still needs a lot of work. Therefore, I am not seeing the results I want.
So this is what I'm gonna do...
each week I'm gonna put my eating goal up on the blog.
I'll report back at the beginning of each week.
If I fail one week, I owe everyone a free smoothie at the juice bar at the sports academy.

This weeks goal
Only two treats this week.
Drink at least 64 oz of water each day
No chips this week (there are 2 opened bags of chips in my pantry from a bbq last night and if I don't stop myself now, I will eat them both this week)

Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please come :)

Meet at the Logan River trail tomorrow @ 9 am!
Bring your kids and strollers or just come along for a power walk with the girls.
Afterwords, come on over to Britt's place! We'll be doing outdoor pilates!
So bring a towel or yoga mat to lay on the grass. And you can let your kids run around or play on the grass or the playground while we work out.
This will be a great mix of a good calorie burning cardio walk and strength and flexibility training with pilates.  It will be a lot of fun!

Thanks!!!!!!

Thanks to everyone who came to the healthy eating/cooking class!
It was a lot of fun and I think we all got some really good info! If you weren't able to come but still want the hand-outs and recipes, let me know.  I have extra copies.
And a special thanks to Helga Laing! She put a lot of work into it :)
oh and there is a correction about some questions we had last night.  Helga told me that partially hydrogenated oil does eventually leave your body but it raises your bad cholesterol and lowers your good cholesterol.  Also the agava sugar thing... the body treats it the way that it treats regular sugar.  People lean towards it because it does come from a natural source.  But is not necessarily better for you.

Progress?

So 2 weeks down and about 2 lbs down.  But to hit my goal, I need to be doing this a little faster...
I've been cheating on my "no sweets" thing.  That could be one problem.  But I'm keepin on keepin on :)
Just though I'd report my progress.  If I do that, then I think I'll stay motivated better. Thanks!

Okay, I'll Finally Start

My name is Kellie.  I told Britt I would join and started Sept. 1st, but I am a full time school teacher just started back, a full time mom, and we just moved to a new house, so I've been too busy to blog.  But I wanted to introduce myself as you all have!  I haven't taken any measurements other than my weight and let's just say that I am the heaviest I have ever been.   I gained about 40 pounds with my baby and it's been 9 1/2 months without a lot of success losing the weight.  I also have thyroid problems to top it off.  So needless to say, losing weight is hard.
I have tried all sorts of diets and exercise programs and have found that no matter how much I work out or what I do, I can only lose weight through what I eat.
So, my goal for this program is get my eating under control and not let the stress and my emotions of work and motherhood take control of my food cravings.  I would love to lose about 50 pounds total, but my goal for this program is to lose 20 in the next two months.
I have always been super motivated to work out and have been following the program "Insanity" by BeachBody.  It has me work out INSANELY hard 6 days a week, which I have been religiously doing for the past 3 weeks.  The program will take me through the middle of October to finish, then I'll start round 2 of p90x (another BeachBody program).
I am definitely excited to have some competition, I REALLY don't like to lose!
(Sorry I don't have a better picture to put on here, I honestly haven't even had time to take some body shots.  But you get the idea from this one).

Oh, and Britt said to give updates... in my first week I lost 2 pounds!

Friday, September 10, 2010

Put this on your calendar!!!!!!!

Thursday, September 16th we will be doing a "healthy eating/cooking" class @ 6 pm.
Afterwords, we'll do a 15 minute core class :)
It will be at Britt's house.  If you need directions, email at brittsbigloser@gmail.com
Please come! We will be having healthy snacks and you can brings kids if you need to!
Hope to see you there!

Tomorrow's work out :)

We are all going to spinning tomorrow @ 6:00 am!!!!!!!!!!! Be there or be square!
(up the stairs and down the hall to the right)

1 week down! How's it Going?

Write a comment on this post and let us know how it's going so far!
Are you on a roll?
Are you frusterated?
We want to know so that everyone can help each other out.

Here's a tip:

Make a plan
-- it's so much harder to "eat healthy" or  start a "workout plan" when you leave it at that.
How are you going to eat healthy?
How often are you gonna exercise and how will you stay motivated?

Write your plan down and put it up somewhere in your house where you will see it often..
Share your plan with us in a post.  That way you'll have to report back to us with your progress :)

I'll Share mine with you:
Excercise
excercise everyday except Sunday
Take Scarlette on a walk 3 times a week on top of the working out
Do 100 reps with the thigh master everyday

Eating
No sweets
Protein in at least 2 meals a day
4-5 servings of fruits and veggies a day

Jami's Confession

I am confessing my ice cream and carb sins.
I guess if I feel like I have people to report too, I'm more likely to stay on track.  Here goes:

-- So the first half of the first week I was rocking it! Exercising, eating right... etc.  My muscles were so sore, I was sore in muscles I didn't know I had!  (this is a good thing- I haven't been sore in years).  And then,  I went on a weekend trip with my husband... hello fast food, pizza, and the ever so tempting Ben and Jerry's.   The exercise went out the window,  so did the diet.

So...  I'm going to try again.  Start anew and get back on track.   So here we go week two!

Thanks for letting me confess-
it makes me feel better for some reason!

I think I can..... I think I can!

Well my name is Esther I am excited to get in shape and loose weight!!! I have been extremely heavy my entire life. In third grade my mom had to buy my clothes in the ladies section and in fifth grade I weighed  250 lbs. My entire family is obese and has heath problems. I topped the scale at about 310 lbs. A year and a half ago I had Gastro Bypass my current weight is 200 lbs. People tell me I took the easy way out but no way is easy!!!! My goals are; 1) Loose 30 lbs in the next six months, 2) Get in shape, 3) Learn to control my head hunger.

Tiffany

Hello! I'm Tiffany Morris and I decided to join because my baby is just about to turn one and I realized the last ten pounds NEED to come off. I gained a whopping 50 pounds in my pregnancy, I lost everything but the last ten. I needed something to make me work extra hard to get me back to the way I was before.

I would love to loose the belly fat and gain muscle there! After having a c-section I have found this to be my biggest struggle.

I plan on doing some type of work out everyday, taking lots of walks and really watching what I'm eating. Mostly cutting back on carbs. Crossing my fingers it works!

Bust: 32 1/2
Waist: 28
Hips: 37 1/2
Thighs: 21 1/2

Tomorrow's work out :)

These are a few classes that I really love.
Spinning
Zumba
Tonic Training

These are all offered at 6 am and 9 am tomorrow morning.
I plan on going to 6 am Zumba myself, so for those of you who have to work tomorrow and can't go to a later class, come join me! If you want to do a class but don't dig the dancie stuff, there is a spin class at the same time, and it's an awesome work-out!

I may go again to Tonic training at 9 am (depending on Scarlette) it's dance mixed with step and some strength training.  There is a spin class at than time as well. You can take your kids to the day care there, but you need to go to the membership office first so that they know you have a trial membership.

If you want to attend a 9 am class but don't want to take your kids to the day care, I would be willing to watch kids at my house during that time.  Text me, call me, email me or make a comment on this post if you would like to drop your kids off with me :) Hopefully I'll see you guys tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!

Alyson

Hey all! I'm britt's sister the little/bigger sister. I am 5'6 and so I guess that's a little on the tall side so I don't realize when I am gaining weight. I actually gained 5 lbs during my first year of marraige but I am back down to the weight on my wedding day so I am on the upward climb! I was a gymnast and a dancer and played alot of other sports so that kept me in shape in my younger years but since then I have felt I haven't been in the best possible shape I could be in so my goal is to lose 10 lbs and tone up! Wish me luck!

Measurments:

Bust: 35 1/2
Waist: 29
Hips: 37 1/2
Thighs: 22

Problem areas: Shedding some inches on my HIPS and THIGHS and toning the belly more because I promise I used to have a six pack!

Jamie and Jessie

Well no pictures tonight unfortunately. Our names are Jamie Freckleton and Jessie Wagner. We both decided to join this race because we both want to be motivated to lose some weight....
We will update this soon with weights and pictures. However, we want the month pass to Sports Academy so we are now on the list.
Jamie: My story is... Well it's not long, I just started teaching and I think I have gained 6 pounds in the last month due to stress and no time to cook healthy food. I need to figure out a time to work out and so hopefully this will do it.
Jessie: My story is long unlike Jamie's! But you get the nutshell version. I was a cheerleader in high school and never had to worry about exercising or watching what I ate (much like someone else's story I read, only she was a soccer player. Go us!). Everyone in my family is a super athlete so I need to get back in shape to fit in!
We're in it to win it!!!

Katie

Hello!  My name is Katie and I am ready to be motivated to lose my baby weight.  My second baby is five months old and I have not been this out of shape in my entire life!  I danced through high school and exercised regularly in college.  Then I taught dance for a while but during my second pregnancy priorities changed.  I have lost all the muscle tone I used to have and really really want to get it back.  I didn't appreciate it while I had it!  My weight right now is 132 and my goal is to lose at least 12 pounds to be at 120.  I also have a goal to eat better... and not so much.  :)  This is the perfect thing for me and will hopefully keep me encouraged enough to stick with it.

Photo coming soon... taking a picture in the mirror by myself didn't work out too well this afternoon!

Oh boy...

Hey Everyone!

I'm Brittany. I just had a baby in January... however, I was not thin before I got pregnant! So, that can't be my excuse for being overweight! I gained 19 lbs while I was pregnant and I'm pretty sure I've lost most of that weight. I fit in all my clothes that I wore pre-pregnancy.

I think I weigh between 190-200 lbs. I was 219 the day I delivered Sophie.

I'd post my weight but my scale is broken... I know this cause I just weighed my 18 lb baby on it and it said 60 lbs! Ha. I'm glad I didn't step on it! I'll post it asap, though.

I'm 5'8 and I'm supposed to be around 150-155 but I'd be happy if I was 165-170. I know I won't lose all that weight in 2 months... even 180 would be great!

Here is my before pic:

Here is a picture of me 6 years ago in college...

Working at a treatment center for eating disorders I've become super sensitive to any words having to do with weight loss! I'm actually pretty confident for someone who is so overweight. I'm not obsessed with being super thin, I just want to be toned, fit, and be able to keep up with my cute babe :)

Here are my stats:

Arms 13.5
Bust 42
Waist 35
Hips 44.5
Thighs 26.5

Most of your "before" pictures would be my dream "after" picture! Ha! We'll see how this goes :)

Here we go!!

Hey everybody! I'm Sara and I'm ready to loose weight...so hopefully this works! I love exercising and being active and I try to eat healthy but for some reason I haven't been able to loose the weight I want. My goal is to loose about 10-15 pounds in a healthy and positive way - I've struggled with loosing weight in a healthy way in the past so I'm a bit nervous about how this will work for me.

Current Weight - 135
Goal - 120-125

Measurements:
Arms - 10.5
Bust - 33
Waist - 26.5
Hips - 34
Thigh - 22

Heather

Hi Everyone! I am so excited to get my butt in gear!! I will post pics and measurements later tonight because I need someone here to take them :)
My goal is to fit back into my jeans that I wore when Keith and I were dating! I was so addicted to working out, spent so much time exercising and loved everything about it and then I guess my priorities changed and it is amazing how fast things went down hill. I also would love to have a good body after baby :) My baby just turned 1 and I really need to stop procrastinating and get healthy!!

Ashley

Hi. I'm Allison's cousin (and I was in the student ward for a couple of months - so I know a few of you). My goals are pretty simple: get my belly to have some muscle that you can see! I've had two kids and my body is just not the same as it used to be.

Stats--
Weight: 126
Waist: 28 3/4
Hips/butt: 37 1/4
Thigh: 19 3/4
Arm: 10 1/2
Bust: 35

kristin

hello... my name is kristin. i decided to join this to get myself in some better habits... eating well and consistently exercising. i danced my whole life until i got to college--there weren't any more classes around to take, so i very reluctantly quit. that was always the only form of exercise i enjoyed and i would love to find something that i love almost as much. :)

my starting weight is 140 (ish... i can't be sure because our scale is apparently broken) and i would love to lose ten pounds and have some better habits in two months!

kristin

Amanda Part Duex

Ok, I got the chance to weigh myself this morning, and I am at 150.9. Sadly still 20 lbs more than I have ever weighed before having a baby. So it looks like I am hoping to lose around 10-15 lbs to get to the better weight for me.

Mykel

Hi! My name is Mykel. I want to lose 15 lbs. I don't want to be thin, I want to be fit. I have always played sports and have always been proud of having a strong body. The gym was my LIFE in high school, but after graduation, I have spent NO time working out! I love having a busy life and hopefully this is the motivation I need to schedule time at the gym. In addition to being "too busy"... I HATE CARDIO!!! I would much rather lift for an hour than do anything cardio.
That being said, I started training for a half marathon two weeks ago. The race is in the middle of October. I am excited to do this with all of you! I will upload pics tonight.
Mykel

Here We Go!

Hi Everybody! I'm Jami- I am super excited to do this.  I've needed something to get me motivated for a long time- and having a group of girls for support (and to get after me if I start slacking) is really going to help me out!  So here are some details...

My Story:  I played soccer for 12 years, so never had to eat healthy, excercise on my own, or even worry about my weight because I ran 2-3 hours a day!  When soccer ended, so did my healthy body.  I've put on 40+ pounds since my soccer days (yes I know, thats the weight of a small child) and have tried multiple times to lose it, and failed.  Just recently I was diagnosed with insulin resistance and told I was pre-diabetic (crappy right?) which gives me all the more reason to get in shape and be healthy. We've also been trying for a baby for the last 1 1/2 years, and I'm told losing weight helps with that. Hopefully right?

My Plan:  I need to eat better.  I am going to adopt a low carb low sugar diet (ugh) and try to eat a lot of fresh fruits, veggies, and lean meats.  I've done it before and loved the way it made me feel, and it was recommeded by the doctor.  Too bad I have a love affair with carbs and crave noodles, bread, rice, cupcakes, etc on an hourly basis  (Have you been to temptation cupcake?? Seriously so good).  We'll see how that goes.   I also plan to exercise at least 5 times a week.  Any tips on the best way to get a good workout is a short time?

My Stats:  Weight: 181   Height: 5' 4''   (measurements to come- I don't have a  measuring tape)

My Pics:  ( I realize I look abour 5 months preggers in these pics- I'm not- swear it- thats my gut)
Notice my huge arm span- Yup my arms are 4 inches longer than I am tall-  What the...

I'm excited to get started! Here we go!

Amanda

Hi Everyone!

Ok, sorry that this is a little late, and for reasons that I am going to explain.
You see... I am at my mom's house watching my granddad (who flew into town last night) while my mom is driving his stuff here since he is moving in with her due to health reasons, and thus I don't have a camera nor have I found her scale yet. But I just realized late tonight that she has a wii fit, so I guess that will be what I have to measure myself on early this morning as soon as my granddad wakes up so I can hop on (as he is in the room with the wii.  :) Last time I checked though (Thurs), I am roughly around 158-163.
I am also wanting to do this to get rid of the extra baby poundage that has only slowly shed off me in the last 8 months.
My ideal weight range is between 134-140. And I REALLY want to get rid of the extra stomach I seem to have ended up with. I have not been the best at working out/being healthy, so hopefully this will help me do that.
Again, I apologize for being late on the weighing myself in. Circumstances have made that difficult, but I will get that in asap!

Allison!!!

Hello Ladies! I'm so excited to have some motivation to get something done!!! My goals are the same as yours...except my baby is now almost 2.  Oops!  Where does the time go?  I'm going to do some checking to see what I 'should' weigh with my height and body type so I'm not exactly sure what my exact weight goal is.  But I'll get there.  Mostly, I just want a lifestyle change, learn to eat better and work out a bit!  So I'm up for going to the gym with any of you if you want to go!

Here's where I'm at:

Weight: 144
Waist:  32
Hips/Bum:  41 & a quarter
Legs:  24 & a half
Bust (oh wait, that disappeared after nursing):  36
Arms: 11

Brooke

Aren't setting goals fun??
I'm a BIG fan of setting goals:) I'm just as big of a fan of setting goals with friends:) Love them goals. My goal is to lose 18lbs. I met with a Sports Nutritionist recently and he recommended that I lose this much weight to be a lean mean fighting machine. When he weighed me, I was SHOCKED that I let myself gain 20 pounds! It is so freaking easy to let yourself go! What's important is that we get back on track. About 2 years ago is when I fell off the wagon, or maybe my metabolism just decided to take a nap. I've got some seriously overweight aunts that constantly tell me that I look just them when they were young...it absolutely haunts me every time they say this. Not just because they are barbarian sized but they also remind my hubby of a comic book villain. So then I got my Personal Training license. That is def helping and I absolutely LOVE training. I'm in better shape then I've been in for years but the weight still must go. Biggest loser here we come!! I'm attacking this weight and I WILL conquer.

Starting weight: 162

The Beginning

Hello! My name is Tara Nelson. Let's start off with the stats:

Arm: 10.5

Waist: 29.5

Leg: 23

Hips: 38.5

Bust: 37

Weight: 140

Like Brit, I just had a baby (6 months ago!) and keep telling myself that my hips have yet to move back. I've begun to realize that even if my hips are here to stay, I've got some fat to lose and toning to do! I want to get rid of my muffin top, become overall more lean and tone. I plan to do this by lots of swimming, walking and strength exercises. I really want to get rid of the excess in my mid section! I've found that having a baby gives me a lot of reasons not to work out... so this competition will push me to workout even more! Good luck everyone!!

The Journey Begins

Hello fellow contestants!  My name is Hillary and I feel so blessed to be sharing my weight loss journey with all of you.  I have struggled with my weight my whole adult life.  Its been a source of constant frustration for me and I am hoping by doing this contest I can leave that frustration behind once and for all!  I have been exercising for many years and have been successful in loosing weight but I have recently hit a plateau.  My goals are probably the same as most of you.  I want to loose weight first and foremost.  I would also like to increase my strength and stamina and overall health.  I want to be my best self and I know with your help and support I can reach my goals!!  I look forward to getting to know all of you!!

My Stats:

Starting Weight: 165
Arm: 10.7
Leg: 22.2
Bust: 38.5
Hips: 40
Waist: 34

Britt :)

Ok here is my "before" pic
Weighing-in at 135 lbs.
My goal is to not have muffin top on my pants and to lose 17 lbs
and look like I did in this pic.  I grew up dancing and playing sports so I feel like I've always been in-shape.  But I always carried some extra poundage.  About five years ago, I started teaching fitness classes and I grew out of my baby fat. At my thinnest, I probably weighed about 115.  I would love to get close to that again :)

Weekly Meetings and weigh-in's

Hello ladies!! My name is Brooke Anderson, I'm going to be participating in this contest and I am also hosting our weekly meetings. I have offered to hold the meetings at Citrus & Sage, my husband and I own The Crepery inside Citrus & Sage and pay enough rent to warrant weekly meetings:) Our weekly meetings will consist of weigh-in's (opt), nutritional lessons, fitness guidance, and simply to support one another. I will post weekly to let you all know what the topic is for the week. Tomorrow we will be doing a weigh in for whomever is interesting in being accountable to the group:) If you would rather weigh yourself, no biggy. We will also be discussing tips and tricks of healthy weight loss...tomorrow's meeting will take place at 1pm. If you can't make it and want to weigh yourself then call or text me 435-720-0916 and I'll meet you at C & S to weigh you. Meetings will take place at different times during the week, so check in regularly with the blog to see if you can make it. Thanks!!

Awesome New Prizes!

My boss at the Sports Academy in Logan has been gracious enough to give free 1 month passes to all of our contestants who are not already members!
I'll be giving him a list of names on Sept. 2nd and that is when you can start going!  (Go to the membership office when you get there)-- you need to do an intro post on the 1st in order to get your name on the list.

He also has offered to give one person a free boot camp session!
So I'm thinking of doing something a little bit different for this one.
Everyone measure their hips, waist, and thighs and then e-mail me the measurements.(brittsbigloser@gmail.com)  The person who loses the most inches in the 2 months wins the bootcamp prize!

Also, fellow contestants have offered to donate prizes like massages, Mary-Kay, Sentsy, private pilates lessons, and more!

Welcome!

I'm so excited that you've come to my blog and want to join the contest! This is how it will work.....
E-mail me at brittsbigloser@gmail.com and let me know that you're in!
It starts September 1st and ends November 1st.
There is a $10 entry fee.( the winner gets everyone's entry fees)
The person who loses the biggest percentage of their starting weight will win!
When you e-mail me, I'll give you the blog password so you can create posts.  When you join, you need to post a "before" pic and your starting weight. (Don't worry, we are all friends!)
Then keep us updated with your progress with posts. If you can post weekly, that would be great!
(No boys allowed cuz they lose weight faster and it's not fair!)
We will be sharing healthy recipes, doing give-aways, and having a personal trainer on the blog giving us tips!

I decided to do this because I had a baby 7 months ago and gained a whopping 43 pounds! For someone who is not even 5'3, that is A LOT! Now it's time to shed the weight! I could try to do it alone, but I thought this would be a lot more fun and it's a good way to help keep each other motivated! Even if you only have a couple pounds you want to lose, of just want to get in to shape, you should join in cuz we're gonna be sharing tips and organizing group work-outs. I'm pretty excited and I hope you are, too!
